About the role



The 2D/3D Draftsman plays a key role in supporting the Methods Engineer / Package Manager by producing technical drawings, 3D models and visualizations that guide construction planning, sequencing, and execution. This position bridges engineering design with practical site implementation, ensuring that construction methodologies are clearly communicated and accurately represented

What you'll be doing



Produce accurate 2D drawings and 3D models for batching plant layouts, reinforcement details, and installation plans using AutoCAD and BIM tools. Generate site installation drawings, time slices, and 4D construction sequences to support planning and logistics. Update and maintain drawings based on site conditions, subcontractor feedback, and design changes. Ensure compliance with SZC standards, CDM regulations, and project specifications in all drafting outputs. Collaborate with Methods Engineer, Package Manager, and site teams to integrate drawings into construction methodology and sequencing. Support BIM coordination and clash detection using Navisworks and other digital tools. Prepare visual aids and temporary works sketches for design briefs and construction reviews. Maintain accurate records of revisions and ensure timely delivery of all drafting outputs. Assist in reviewing subcontractor design deliverables (drawings, models, risk registers) for accuracy and alignment with project requirements. Contribute to continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and applying best practices in drafting and modelling. Maintain register of drawings, interface with the Information Management team, submit drawings for review and approval on the project Document Management Platform.


Who we're looking for

Knowledge & Skills





Essential


Proficient in 2D drafting and 3D modelling using AutoCAD and BIM tools (Navisworks, Revit preferred, Tekla). Ability to collaborate effectively with Methods Engineer, Package Manager, and site teams. Understanding of design interfaces with construction teams and subcontractors to ensure alignment with project requirements. Ability to generate site installation drawings, time slices, and 4D construction sequences. Experience in reviewing subcontractor design deliverables (drawings, models, risk registers). Knowledge of SZC standards and CDM regulations for drafting outputs.




Desirable


Familiarity with 2D / 3D reinforcement drafting and BS8666 scheduling of reinforcement.



Qualifications & Experience


Essential


Relevant technical qualification (e.g., HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or Drafting) and proven experience in 2D/3D drafting for construction projects.




Desirable


Experience with Revit and PowerBI for advanced modelling and visualisation.
