OVERVIEW OF ROLE




Forget Me Nots collection and delivery service is a great way for us to connect with customers, make their lives easier and provide good quality stock, including furniture, for our charity shops. All of which helps us raise money to support the local children with life-shortening conditions and their families who desperately need our help.


Reporting into our shop in Manchester Road, youll collect and deliver good quality stock including furniture to and from customers or other shops in one of our vans.


You dont need to have driven for a living before but you will need to be passionate about providing an excellent level of customer service, be aware of and a stickler for health and safety practices and be confident about talking to customers about the work that Forget Me Not does.If that sounds like you, we want to hear from you!

JOB DESCRIPTION




Role Summary




Main Duties and Key Responsibilities



Ensuring the van is used efficiently and effectively in collecting and delivering donated items; transferring stock between shops and the Hospice. This will include planning routes and prioritising jobs. Ensuring the van is clean, presentable and promotes the hospice in a professional manner. Recruiting, sign up and monitor gift aid donors. Ensuring that donated goods are collected on the day specified and in accordance with policy. Liaising with donors to ensure that the furniture collected meets legal requirements and is of saleable quality which in return will minimise wastage. Assist the Shop Manager with co-ordinating duties for volunteer support on the vans. Collecting stock from Forget Me Not Childrens Hospice Shops and either delivering it to customers homes or another shop. Liaising with customers on the telephone to arrange collection and delivery of goods in a timely and efficient manner. Carry out Portable Appliance Tests (PAT) on donated electrical goods. To attend training, meetings and reviews as requested by the Shop Manager and Area Manager. Maintain excellent communication with shop manager to continuously evaluate and improve the van service. Assist Shop Manager in merchandising the furniture on the sales floor. Work with the Maintenance Team to ensure the vehicle is kept in a roadworthy condition, is properly taxed, insured and annually inspected, and meets all service requirements. Maintain records of transport usage, in conjunction with other departments. Undertake other retail, transport or fundraising duties as time allows or as directed. We expect all staff to undertake any other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job, the title of the post and its grading, as requested by your line manager or their higher level of authority on behalf of the charity.

Skills and experience




Essential:
Previous experience in delivering a high level of customer experience. Understanding of Health and Safety at work Strong communication skills Good organisational skills Professional and proactive. Support and encourage harmonious internal and external working relationships. Make a positive contribution to fundraising and raising the profile of the Hospice.

Desirable:


Experience of driving in a commercial setting

Education / qualifications

As this role involves driving one of our vehicles out in the community, you will need to have a full, clean driving licence.


This role will involve weekend work and so flexibility is essential.
