To provide safe, punctual, and courteous transportation services for service users, learners and staff, goods, or organisational materials, ensuring vehicles are maintained in good condition and journeys comply with road safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Transport passengers, service users, staff, or goods safely to designated locations, following agreed schedules and routes.
Carry out daily vehicle checks (e.g. oil, tyres, fuel, cleanliness) and report maintenance issues promptly.
Ensure vehicles are clean, roadworthy, and comply with MOT and servicing requirements.
Maintain accurate journey records, mileage logs, and delivery documentation as required.
Assist passengers who may have mobility issues, including the elderly or individuals with disabilities (if applicable).
Follow all road safety rules, parking regulations, and traffic laws at all times.
Communicate effectively with the transport office, line manager, or service coordinators regarding route changes, delays, or concerns.
Refuel vehicles and ensure security when parked or unattended.
Adhere to all safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection protocols relevant to the service.
Person Specification:
Essential:
Full, clean UK driving licence (Category B or above, depending on vehicle type).
Proven driving experience and good knowledge of local and regional roads.
Reliable, punctual, and professional attitude.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage time effectively.
Basic literacy and numeracy for record-keeping.
Desirable:
Experience driving minibuses, vans, or people carriers (D1 licence or CPC may be required for larger vehicles).
Previous work in care, education, or logistics settings.
Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and emergency procedures.
Valid Enhanced DBS
First Aid training.
Additional Information:
This role may involve lifting luggage, parcels, or assisting clients with mobility needs.
Training may be provided on agreed terms and conditions.
Some shifts may include early mornings, late evenings, weekends, or bank holidays.
