This is an outstanding opportunity to join the Training department at North Wales Police as the Driver Trainer. You\xe2\x80\x99ll be joining on a permanent contract working full time hours, within an organisation that will truly support your success in the workplace. The Pay-scale for this post will be: Unqualified Level 6 \xc2\xa328,530 - \xc2\xa330,375 What does the Driver Trainer role entail? To provide internal staff and external clients with specialist driver training and development to fulfil their respective specialist roles and any future training, including refresher training, that may become the responsibility of Training Learning and Development business area. You will be responsible to teach specialist theoretical and practical knowledge and skills to the recognized and approved College of Policing (COP) Guidelines and Approved Professional Practice (APP) to both standard and advanced level incorporating emergency response, initial and tactical phase pursuits, RTC/damage reporting procedures, practical application of Roadcraft/Highway Code, driving plans, commentary, mechanical theory and fault finding, preparation of daily/weekly reports in line with COP competency framework.
Other duties of the Driver Trainer will include, but not be limited to;

  • Responsible for the design and delivery of theoretical and practical training materials/methods and documentation.
  • Contribute positively and constructively to team planning processes.
  • To take a lead role when required in areas where students need to be developed.
  • Undertake the assessment of training candidates.
  • To assist with any new training and development projects introduced by North Wales Police and COP/APP.
  • Monitor trends and to develop appropriate training and development programmes and materials.
What will I need to be considered for the Driver Trainer role?
  • For the unqualified role \xe2\x80\x93 Educated to A-Level standard or possess an equivalent amount of relevant experience, and work towards completion of OCR L&D level 4 Learning & Development qualification.
  • For the qualified role \xe2\x80\x93 Possess OCR L&D level 4 Learning & Development qualification or equivalent, or an equivalent amount of proven relevant experience.
  • Training Plan for Unqualified to Qualified role will require studying for and achievement of the above qualification, within 9-12 months. Protected learning time will be provided.
  • A full driver\xe2\x80\x99s licence.
  • The ability to travel across the force area is required.
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft applications including Access and Excel.
  • Knowledge of Data Protection procedures, computer misuse and other relevant computer policies and legislation.
  • Successful candidates must attend and pass a Standard response Course, Advanced Driving Course, Training Essentials Programme (TEP) and Police Driver Trainers Course. Please note these courses may be conducted anywhere within the UK.
DESIRABLE
  • Possess a good working knowledge of the College of Policing (COP) Roads Policing & Police Driver Learning Programme.
  • Possess a good working knowledge of COP Pursuit Management Authorised Professional Practice (APP)
  • Proven experience of working in a driver training role including experience of training design & delivery, quality assurance and assessment procedures, briefing and presentation/trainer skills.
  • Evidence of continued and relevant training in the appropriate areas.
  • Possess a good working knowledge if VIP protection driving and CAT \xe2\x80\x98A\xe2\x80\x99 escorts.
  • DVSA Approved Driving Instructors (ADI) qualification. or be prepared to work towards an ADI Qualification
