Job Title: DT and Art Technician

Required: 01.09.2023

Salary: \xc2\xa319,916 per annum, FTE: \xc2\xa322,055 per annum

Hours: 37.5 hours per week over 5 days

Term time plus 2 weeks in the holiday periods

Swindon Academy is looking for a hardworking and enthusiastic DT and Art Technician who will support staff in school making a strong contribution to pupils\' learning and achievement. The DT and Art Technician will also assist all teaching staff in providing pupils with a relevant and effective Design & Technology and Art experience and ensure high levels of achievement.

In this role you will also:

  • prepare materials and equipment for practical lessons,
  • maintain and monitor consumables and equipment in D&T and Art to ensure all pupils are able to access a wide range of materials and processes as part of their Design Technology and Art provision,
  • assist the Faculty Leader (Art) and Deputy Faculty Leader (DT) in the ordering of materials and equipment,
  • carry out weekly material and equipment checks across all Technology and Art rooms,
  • assist staff in the production and updating of Technology and Art displays,
  • assist teaching staff in promoting and raising the profile of D&T and Art within and outside the school,
  • assist staff in the demonstration and application of machinery use to students.
The ideal candidate will:
  • be educated to a degree level,
  • have experience of working with young people (age 11 to 16) or within schools, working with students and parents,
  • have ability to understand, interpret and follow systems, policies and procedures,
  • good numeracy skills; able to analyse and interpret data,
  • ability to relate well to both children and adults; able to develop and maintain positive working relationships with students, their families, colleagues and other professionals,
  • demonstrate tact and sensitivity where appropriate.
