Job Description

Our family entertainment facility offers sessions for all ages, as well as children's parties, school visits and events. We also have an on-site cafe, offering a range of hot and cold food and drinks.

We're looking for a confident and enthusiastic Part-Time Duty Manager with a background in sport, leisure or activities to support our team in the daily operation of our venue. As a Duty Manager you will provide strong leadership to our staffing team in a hands-on role with the key focus being to ensure the highest level of customer experience and safety.

The successful candidate will join our team 16 hours per week, with regular opportunity to increase hours with additional shifts if desired. Standard term-time working hours include:
Monday after school (4 hours)
Wednesday after school (4 hours)
Saturdays (Early/Mid/Late)
During school holidays there are opportunities for adapted working hours to support any childcare responsibilities. All staff members have Christmas Day and Boxing Day off work.

Duties and Responsibilities:



We have a great staffing team working across reception, cafe, kitchen, parties and the obstacle arena departments. Your role will be to co-ordinate and manage those staff members of which your daily team will range from 2-15 individuals depending peak/off-peak times. Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed by yourself and your staffing team to a consistent high standard, as you will be responsible for the safety and wellbeing of all staff members and visitors during your shifts. Provide ongoing training and support to our team members, especially new starters. Promote best practice with our 'customer comes first' approach and lead by example to create great experiences for our visitors. Develop and maintain thorough knowledge on products, services and procedures to assist customer queries in-person, over the phone and via email. Be pro-active in foreseeing potential issues to ensure customer satisfaction and appropriate support for your team. Receive training on all departments so you can rotate your support where needed during busy periods, including working from a department during quiet periods. Complete opening and closing checks as a key holder and fire warden, maintaining a safe working environment for your team in line with our H&S policy. Responsibility for safe evacuation in the event of emergency. Perform basic safety checks and maintenance on our equipment Be part of our team of First Aiders, managing a pro-active approach in injury prevention as well as response. Perform end of day cashing up and other administrative tasks. Basic knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook required. Have an active interest in our obstacle offering to engage with our customers and encourage your team to develop their own skills as engaging hosts. A moderate level of fitness is required to perform this role safely. Perform any other duties assigned, requested or deemed necessary by senior management

Essential Criteria:



Minimum 2 years' supervisory experience in a similar role such as a leisure centre, gym, trampoline/inflatable, outdoors and adventure, sports coach or sport graduate and be able to demonstrate transferable. Reliable and consistent approach, able to work as a manager independently but also as part of the wider management team. Strong leadership, management and organisational skills with emphasis on promoting best practice and following policy/procedure Ability to problem solve and resolve queries or complaints Able to use initiative to manage the team effectively during off-peak and peak business days Customer-focused ethos with an eye for detail to maintain a clean and well-run venue Be able to communicate confidently with a wide range of people from toddlers to adults, SEN, parents, teachers and corporate groups. Outgoing with enthusiasm for fun and physical activity Literacy, Numeracy and IT Skills

Desirable Criteria:



Level 2 food hygiene certificate and/or experience working in a cafe or kitchen environment Level 3 First Aid Training Fire Warden Training Full UK Driving licence and access to a vehicle

Rate of pay:


13.50 per hour
