Applications are invited for the post of Early Career Teaching Fellow in English Literature (Romanticism).
The successful candidate will contribute to the teaching of literary studies for our undergraduate degree programmes in English and Scottish Literature. With experience of teaching Romantic Literature and assessing student work, and to the supervision of MSc dissertations. They will contribute to teaching related administration within the subject area. The postholder may also be required to supervise Honours dissertations.
We particularly welcome applications from candidates with research expertise in one or more of the following areas identified as existing or emergent strengths within the English and Scottish Literature subject area: digital humanities; economic humanities; environmental humanities; health humanities; LGBTQ+ studies; postcolonial, transnational and/or diasporic literary studies.
This role is part-time and for 28 hours per week (0.8 FTE).

Your skills and attributes for success:

• PhD in a relevant field, awarded by the time of application.
• Experience of, or demonstrable capacity for, teaching literature from the Romantic era in the context of a department of English literary studies.
• Experience of undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching, including design of teaching materials for classes.
• Experience of marking and assessment of student performance at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
• Experience of undergraduate and/or postgraduate dissertation supervision.
• Experience in using IT effectively for teaching and learning, as appropriate to the role.

About the Team: Edinburgh's is the longest-established department of English Literature in the world, having offered courses on 'rhetoric and belles-lettres' since the late eighteenth century. It is currently one of the United Kingdom's leading departments of English Literature, further distinguished by its presence in the first UNESCO 'World City of Literature'. Undergraduate applications to courses and degrees in English Literature are buoyant and enrolments are high. There is a strong postgraduate presence, both in taught courses and in research degrees. All colleagues are active writers and researchers with interests covering periods and areas of literature in English from 1300 to the present. All members of the department are expected to share fully in undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching and supervision and in academic administration and management.
