Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Practitioner to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education and experience working with children who have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). This role is crucial in providing tailored support to ensure that all children can thrive in a nurturing and inclusive environment. The role will be a room based role working with our 2-3 years old children.

Responsibilities

Manage the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) for children with SEND, ensuring their specific needs are met. Communicate effectively with parents, caregivers, and other professionals to provide updates on children's progress and collaborate on strategies for improvement. Foster a positive learning environment that encourages the development of social, emotional, and cognitive skills in children. Lead and support activities within the nursery that promote inclusion and engagement for all children. Drive initiatives that enhance the overall quality of childcare services provided to children with SEND. Maintain accurate records of children's progress and any interventions implemented, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures. Support with referrals and gaining additional funding for children.

Qualifications

Proven experience working with children in a childcare setting, preferably within a nursery environment. At least level 3 relevant qualification Strong knowledge of early childhood education principles, particularly regarding SEND. Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with children, parents, and colleagues. Demonstrated leadership abilities to guide staff and foster teamwork within the nursery setting. A relevant qualification in early childhood education or special educational needs is desirable. A genuine passion for supporting children's development and an understanding of the challenges faced by those with SEND.
