We are an 'Outstanding' Pre-School based in the Mansbridge area of Southampton with a passion for childcare. We care for children within the local community aged 2-4 years.

The Pre-School is registered for up to 30 children a session and opens from 8.30am - 15:00pm daily during term time.

At Mansbridge Community Pre-School, we are dedicated to providing a nurturing, inspiring, and safe environment where young children can thrive and develop. We are currently seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Early Years Practitioner to join our dedicated team.

We are looking to recruit an Early Years Practitioner with excellent knowledge of the child development and the new revised EYFS.

Up to date Paediatric first aid and update service is an advantage but not essential as training can be given.

Proven experience in working within Early Years Foundation stage required.

Mansbridge Community Pre-School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. An Enhanced DBS will be required. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

You will be required to Complete an application form and Health declaration form.

A clear DBS and 2 references will also we sought before employment commences.

Key Skills Desired:



Childcare qualification Level 2 or above Experience as an early years practitioner Excellent communication skills Ability to keep and maintain records to a high standard Excellent knowledge and understanding of safeguarding children Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS Good IT skills Able to work as part of a team Able to work on own initiative

Reporting relationships:

reporting directly to the Pre-school Manager

Purpose of the job:



To assist the management team in the day to day running of the pre-school. To provide a stimulating and varied programme of play and learning opportunities. To ensure the safety and well-being of the children.

Main duties and tasks:



To assist in the setting up and clearing away of all activities and equipment. To ensure high standards of hygiene and safety are maintained at all times. To ensure that any information received concerning the children is kept confidential at all times. To actively encourage children's progress in all areas of development, types and stages of play, by interaction and extension of play activities. To be responsible for keeping the individual record file for each of the children in the key worker group. To be involved in curriculum planning, policy writing and record keeping as requested and led by the management team. To attend staff meetings as requested. To attend training as requested. To support the work and beliefs of the pre-school by helping to create an environment that promotes open and equal opportunities for children and adults. To work as part of a team and support colleagues. To encourage the participation and involvement of all parents of children attending the pre-school. To be flexible with the working practices of the pre-school. To be prepared to help when other areas of the pre-school may be short staffed, or with domestic duties or other duties as specified by the pre-school manager. To be prepared to take on a one-one role during some sessions. To supervise children during lunch time.
Hours: Monday to Friday 8:15am - 15:30pm with 1 day staying until 4pm

Job Type: Full time (Term time only) until July 2026 but could become permanent.
