Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Management
Lead, motivate, and develop a team of Early Years Practitioners to deliver outstanding childcare and education.
Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture that promotes teamwork, professional growth, and staff wellbeing.
Conduct regular supervision, appraisals, and training to maintain high performance and staff development.
Curriculum and Learning
Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the
Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
curriculum.
Ensure activities are child-centred, inclusive, and support each child's individual development.
Monitor learning outcomes and track children's progress to maintain high standards of early education.
Safeguarding and Compliance
Ensure the nursery meets all
Ofsted
and
EYFS statutory requirements
, maintaining accurate records and policies.
Take the lead on
safeguarding and child protection
, ensuring all staff adhere to relevant legislation and procedures.
Maintain robust health, safety, and hygiene practices in line with regulations.
Parent and Community Engagement
Build and maintain positive relationships with parents, carers, and the wider community.
Communicate effectively with families through meetings, reports, and digital platforms.
Promote the nursery through open days, local partnerships, and marketing initiatives.
Operational Management
Manage nursery budgets, occupancy levels, and staffing to ensure financial sustainability.
Oversee recruitment, induction, and retention of high-quality staff.
Implement quality improvement plans and prepare for inspections or audits.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
Minimum Level 3 qualification in Early Years Education or Childcare (e.g., NVQ, CACHE, or equivalent).
Proven experience in a nursery management or senior leadership role.
Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework and Ofsted requirements.
Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
A clear enhanced
DBS check
and sound understanding of
safeguarding
responsibilities.
Desirable:
Level 5 or above in Early Years Leadership or Management.
Paediatric First Aid certification.
Experience in managing budgets and business operations within an early years setting.
