We are recruiting for 2 full-time Outdoor Childcare Practitioners to join the team here at FossoPLAY Outdoor Nursery.

FossoPLAY is an entirely outdoor nursery, set within woodland on our 70 acre estate in rural Kinross-shire.

We are a small, values based nursery that believes the quality of the care and nurture we provide is only possible when we have skilled, committed staff who feel valued in their role.

Outdoor Childcare Practitioner

Reports to:

Senior OC Practitioner & Nursery Manager

Job Purpose:

To work as part of the FossoPLAY Team providing early learning and childcare in an outdoor setting to children aged 2 to 5 years (older during school holidays); to help foster an environment that encourages each child's development; continually deliver high standards of outdoor early learning and childcare provision to allow each child to reach their full potential, whilst working alongside their family to ensure all their needs are met.

Essential Requirements:



You must have some experience of outdoor practice and be qualified to at least SCQF Level 7 (SVQ 3 or HNC etc) in early learning / child development practice or a related discipline You must be registered or able to register with the SSSC at Practitioner level within six month of starting within the post You must able to register for PVG scheme membership or have a Scheme Update competed prior to a formal job offer. You must be comfortable working the majority of your days outdoor come rain or shine...

Tasks and Responsibilities:



Deliver quality early learning, childcare provision in the outdoors. Take specific responsibility for a group of children, ensuring they have access to and participate in high quality play opportunities. Promote a happy, caring and welcoming atmosphere for children, parents, staff, volunteers and visitors. Implement and adhere to all FossoPLAY policies and procedures. Work in partnership with parents, staff and other professionals. Provide effective and regular feedback to parents. Record and report on the progress and development of the children, including; daily recording, maintaining Personal Plans, updating files and records, ensuring they are always up to date and accurate. Support free play opportunities and and progression and FossoPLAYs loose-parts focus. When appropriate, plan quality activities and sessions in line with the Early Level (Curriculum for Excellence), ensuring that the children's developmental needs are considered at all times. Contribute to the on-going development of the Early Years work including the development of the outdoor site, and continue to develop the ethos of outdoor learning in all the work of the FossoPLAY team. Actively and fully participate in self-assessment and review processes. Source and prepare materials to enrich the play environment and when delivering activities or planned play or training sessions. Undertake appropriate and agreed continuing professional development. Assist in the planning and implementation of special FossoPLAY events. Supervise, train and mentor new team members as directed by the Nursery Manager and support and motivate other members of the team. Support the Nursery Manager in their role and take on delegated responsibilities as and when required. Represent the organisation at external meetings and events when delegated to do so by the Nursery Manager. Carry out care, maintenance and security of the nursery site and equipment. On occasions, participate in early learning & childcare events, other events, FossoPLAY activities and training outwith standard working hours.
