At Growing Wild Outdoor Nursery, children spend their days immersed in nature -- exploring, discovering, and learning through play in our woodland and meadow spaces in South Yorkshire. We believe every child deserves time, space, and freedom to learn naturally. Our curriculum, inspired by nature and grounded in the EYFS 2025, nurtures our core values: Curiosity, Creativity, Kindness, Resilience, Love of Nature, and a Sense of Adventure.
We are seeking a compassionate and confident Early Years Outdoor Practitioner to join our nurturing team on a 12-month maternity cover. This is a wonderful opportunity for an experienced practitioner with a passion for outdoor learning and inclusive practice to make a meaningful impact.
The Role
Deliver high-quality outdoor learning experiences aligned with EYFS 2025.
Support children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), adapting activities to ensure inclusion and progress for all.
Foster children's confidence, curiosity, and wellbeing through nature-based play.
Build warm, respectful relationships with families and colleagues.
Contribute to planning, observation, and reflective practice.
Maintain the highest standards of safeguarding, health, and safety.
This is an active, hands-on role -- perfect for someone who loves being outdoors in all weathers and finds joy in seeing children thrive in natural spaces.
About You
Level 3 Early Years qualification (or equivalent).
Experience supporting children with SEND or additional needs.
A positive, resilient, and reflective approach.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
A genuine love of nature and belief in child-led, play-based learning.
Paediatric First Aid and safeguarding knowledge (or willingness to update).
A Forest School qualification or experience of outdoor learning is desirable but not essential -- we value curiosity, openness, and heart as much as experience.
Why Join Growing Wild?
Work in a truly inspiring outdoor environment every day.
Be part of a values-driven, inclusive team who care deeply about children, families, and the planet.
Access to ongoing CPD, reflective supervision, and opportunities to develop specialisms in outdoor learning or SEND support.
