Description of the Post



We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic

Early Years Senior Practitioner

to join our team on a

maternity cover contract

. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality early learning and childcare, ensuring the best possible outcomes for all children.

Key Roles & Responsibilities



Lead and support the planning, implementation, and evaluation of high-quality learning experiences for children in line with the Early Years Framework. Supervise, mentor, and support staff to ensure consistent and effective practice. Maintain accurate observations, assessments, and records of children's progress. Work in partnership with parents, carers, and multi-agency professionals to support each child's individual development. Ensure the setting meets all Health & Safety, Child Protection, and GDPR requirements. Contribute to continuous improvement and quality assurance processes within the setting. Support the management team in maintaining compliance with national care standards and inspection requirements.

Person specification: Early Years Senior Practitioner



1. Qualification;



Essential;

Must have HNC or SVQ level 3 qualification in childcare.

Desirable;

Working towards a BA in Childhood Practice or SVQ Level 4

Paediatric First Aid

2.Experiences;



Essential;



3 years plus qualified Practitioner experience in Early Years and Childcare Settings. Experience of working with children aged 2-5 years. Experiences of record keeping and key worker systems.

Desirable:



Strong interest of outdoor play and skills of innovating the indoor and outdoor environment. Confidence putting trauma-informed practices in the setting

3.Knowledge and understanding



Essential:



Knowledge and good understanding of Curriculum For Excellence, Realising the Ambition, the Pre Birth to three document and GIRFEC to ensure children's needs are met. Good knowledge and understanding of Responsive planning and Plan learning intention Knowledge and proven practical experience of implementing good quality learning opportunities. Key operational policies and procedures e.g. Health & Safety, Child Protection, Behaviour Management and Administering of Medication, Health & Safety and First Aid.

Desirable:



Experience leading or supporting quality improvement initiatives. Familiarity with digital learning journals or electronic record-keeping systems. First Aid and Child Protection training (up to date).

4.Skills



Essential;



Ability to work innovatively with young children, parents and carers. Ability to manage own workload and work on own initiative. Knowledge of early intervention and safeguarding. Ability to involve parents and carers in children's learning. To be motivated and able to motivate children and staff Empathy and understanding of children aged 2-5 years. Excellent verbal and communication skills with children and parents. Ability to write reports and keep clear and accurate records. To create stimulating learning environment indoor/outdoor. Supervising and Supporting staff

Desirable;



Excellent computing skills and electronic devices for observations (i.e SeeSaw)

5. Requirements of the Job



To hold PVG membership for regulated work with children or willingness to obtain prior to a formal offer of employment being made.

To be registered with SSSC as a practitioner within 6month of joining our team.

To comply with SSSC Code of Practice.

To undertake core training annually.

To maintain appropriate CPD.

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: 34,555.00 per year
