About Merivale Way

Merivale Way is Cathedral View Childcare's original setting, located in a converted two-bedroom house in Ely. It is a small-scale, home-from-home nursery that offers a truly unique early years experience. The setting cares for a maximum of 21 children per day in a mixed-age environment, meaning children from 0 to 5 years old learn and play alongside one another throughout the day.

Our approach draws inspiration from multiple early years pedagogies including Montessori and the Curiosity Approach. Practitioners are encouraged to deliver child-led learning experiences using authentic, open-ended materials and in-the-moment planning. The space is intentionally calm and designed to feel like home, with an emphasis on real-world resources rather than plastic toys.

The indoor environment flows directly into a thoughtfully resourced outdoor space. This encourages free-flow play and independence in all weathers. Children's routines are flexible and responsive to their needs, including nap times, meals, and focused activities.

Job Overview

Due to expansion and maternity leave, we are seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Years Educator to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in nurturing and developing the potential of young children in a nursery setting. This position requires strong leadership skills, effective communication, and the ability to manage a diverse group of children, ensuring a safe and stimulating environment that promotes early childhood education.

Duties

Plan and implement engaging educational activities that promote children's development across various domains including social, emotional, physical, and cognitive skills. Create a warm, welcoming atmosphere for children and their families. Manage daily routines and transitions smoothly to ensure a positive experience for all children. Observe and assess children's progress and development, providing feedback to parents and caregivers as necessary. Foster strong relationships with children, encouraging their independence and self-esteem. Maintain a safe and clean nursery environment in accordance with health and safety regulations. Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the educational programme and share best practices. Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's progress and any concerns that may arise.

Experience

Previous experience in childcare or early childhood education is essential. Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire both children and team members. Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written. Experience working with children in a nursery or similar setting is highly desirable. A proactive approach to problem-solving with the ability to drive initiatives that enhance children's learning experiences.
We welcome applications from individuals who are committed to making a difference in the lives of young children through quality education and care.

Hours

The role is 4 days a week with a set day off each week.
The setting is closed bank holidays and between Christmas and New Year.

Progression

Our company is proud to offer all of our employees the opportunity to undertake additional training and qualifications if they wish.
We believe in building our current staff and allowing them the chances to progress into more senior positions.
