Job Description

Wee Mack's Nursery are seeking a qualified Early Years Practitioner to join our team to provide maternity cover for 12 months starting Jan 2026, with a possibility to extend.

We provide care for babies and children aged 6 months to 5 years in our spacious nursery within a stunning former church building and grounds.

You must be passionate and enthusiastic about delivering a high standard of care to all users, and to help the centre in maintaining its aims and objectives.

Your duties as Early Years Practitioner will include:

maintaining a safe, caring and stimulating environment that promotes learning through play running activities and working with colleagues and other professionals to make sure that the children's needs are met working closely with parents and/or carers, giving them a high standard of service, including regular progress reports making sure that equipment, such as furniture and toys, is in good condition an understanding of child protection within the nursery and the procedure for reporting concerns knowledge of appropriate nursery policies any other duty deemed reasonable by Management
You will need to have the following qualifications, training and experience:

SVQ Level 3/HNC CYP (or relevant experience) A sound working knowledge of Realising the Ambition and GIRFEC. A sound knowledge of child protection procedures. SSSC Registration Current PFA Certificate (desirable) Positive attitude, caring nature and ability to connect with babies and children Must be a good team player and committed to positive outcomes for our children and the nursery as a whole Membership of PVG scheme
Working patterns and benefits:

37 hours per week Monday to Friday (occasional weekend or evening work for events, training or marketing purposes may be required) for full time posts; part time hours as arranged.
