About the Role
We are looking for a caring, reflective, and motivated
Early Years Practitioner
to join our Montessori-led setting on a part-time basis. Working three days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Friday), you will support high-quality learning experiences, build meaningful relationships with children and their families, and contribute to maintaining a calm, inspiring, and developmentally appropriate environment.
Key Responsibilities
Act as a consistent key person, forming secure, nurturing relationships with assigned children and their families.
Support Montessori-aligned, child-led learning experiences in line with the EYFS and the Montessori curriculum.
Observe, assess, and document children's development, contributing to accurate learning journeys and progress tracking.
Maintain a safe, orderly, and enriching classroom environment both indoors and outdoors, encouraging independence and exploration.
Promote positive behaviour guidance, modelling calm, respectful communication in line with Montessori principles.
Support daily routines including snack preparation, mealtimes, toileting, and transitions, ensuring dignity and inclusion at all times.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to uphold Montessori values and high standards of early years practice.
Build strong partnerships with parents/carers, sharing progress, insights, and developmental guidance.
Uphold safeguarding, health & safety, hygiene, and risk assessment procedures consistently.
Engage actively in reflective practice, staff meetings, and CPD opportunities to enhance professional growth.
Contribute to inclusive practice and support for children with SEND, adapting learning experiences where appropriate.
Essential Requirements
Level 3 Early Years qualification (or equivalent).
Enhanced DBS clearance and the legal right to work in the UK.
Experience working in an Early Years setting (Montessori experience highly valued).
Strong knowledge of the EYFS and child development.
Warm, professional communication skills with children, colleagues, and families.
Ability to work collaboratively in a calm, child-centred environment.
Commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and equality.
Willingness to participate in all aspects of personal care and follow medical/allergy plans.
Availability to work
Monday, Tuesday, and Friday
each week.
Desirable Skills & Experience
Montessori training or experience working in a Montessori environment.
Paediatric First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Level 2 Food Safety qualification (or willingness to complete).
Experience using digital learning journals or observation software.
Knowledge of SEND strategies such as Makaton, PECS, or differentiated planning.
Interest in outdoor learning or Forest School practice.
