: Early years practitioner - temporary maternity cover

Purpose of role
To implement high quality early years practice, care and provision to support all children to reach their full potential. To develop strong partnerships with parents to enable all children's needs are met.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
To safeguard the children at all times, ensuring the following of policies and procedures of the setting.
To make all children, parents, and visitors feel welcome and safe at the setting.
To provide a safe, caring and stimulating educational environment, both indoors and outdoors at all times.
To plan and prepare exciting play opportunities that meet children's developmental needs and stimulates their learning in accordance with the EYFS framework.
To be a key person providing each child with continuity of care, developing a secure relationship with each child and helping each child to be confident learners during their time at the setting.
To support each child's individual learning journey through on-going observation, assessment and planning in partnership with parents.
To establish and maintain positive working relationships with parents/carers in a way that supports children's learning and development and valuing the parents contributions to their own child's education.
To adhere to confidentiality, child protection, information sharing procedures and policies.
To maintain confidentiality about all issues related to children and their families, your own and other staff members issues and any other management or operational issues.
Developing and maintaining appropriate behaviour strategies with children.
To attend ALL out of hours activities, e.g. training, staff meetings, parents evenings, events etc.
To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Nursery Managers.
To update training and continued professional development.
Be a pro-active team member, offering support to your colleagues.
To ensure all nursery procedures are followed correctly.
Ensure care routines are followed with regards to nappy changing, toileting, sleeping and good hand hygiene practices.
To ensure good standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times.
Be flexible with working practices of the nursery. Be prepared to help where needed, including domestic jobs within the setting.
To keep accurate records during the nursery day, such as daily diaries and accident forms.
To understand and respect the need for consistency of care for the children e.g. excellent timekeeping, maintain regular attendance etc.
