We are seeking a kind, caring person for the role of Early Years SEN Support Worker to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for fostering a nurturing and stimulating environment for young children to achieve their small step targets in their development, through engaging activities and play. The ideal candidate will possess a genuine love for working with children that need a little extra help to achieve, ensuring that each child's individual needs are met.
Responsibilities
Implement appropriate educational activities that promote physical, emotional, and social development and support the individual child to make progress.
Observe and assess children's progress, providing feedback to parents and guardians on their IEP small steps progress.
Take part in IEP review meetings along with the Early Years Educator.
Communicate effectively with children, parents, outside professionals and colleagues to foster positive relationships.
Support SEN children through the daily routines, including meal times, Attention Bucket sessions and play sessions working with their current method of communication and understanding e.g hand over hand, objects of reference, symbols cards, signing etc.
Collaborate with the Early Years Educators to develop a cohesive curriculum that meets the needs of all children.
Maintain accurate records of children's developmental milestones.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the Pre-school setting.
Requirements
A recognised qualification in Early Childhood Education or Childcare is desirable but the role is open to an unqualified person with a patient, caring nature and whom is passionate and dedicated to support children with SEN.
Previous experience working with children with SEN is essential.
Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
Ability to drive initiatives that enhance children's learning experiences.
A genuine passion for working in childcare and early years education.
Capability to manage challenging behaviour effectively while promoting positive interactions among children.
