Post Title: Trainee Practitioner/ Early Years Support Worker
Working pattern:
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday - Term time(potential cover on Mondays and Fridays and non term time if required)
JOB PURPOSE:
As a Trainee Practitioner at Elle's ELC you will work closely with the staff team, and service users under the direction of EYPs and Senior staff, to support with the implementation of consistent high-quality early learning and childcare in line with local/national policy, legislation, and guidance.
This is a trainee position
- the successful candidate will have the responsibility of working towards and achieving a childcare qualification, in line with the SSSC requirements.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
Support with implementing and follow Elle's ELC policies and procedures.
Work in partnership with the staff team, service users and other professionals to ensure individual needs are being met and supported in line with the GIRFEC guidance.
In line with SSSC requirements and the child protection policy, support with the implementation of robust safeguarding procedures ensuring the welfare of all children is paramount under the direction of Senior Management.
Support with improvement planning under direction of EYPs/Senior management.
Make full use of and implement relevant legislation and guidance to support continuous personal development.
In line with the infection control policy always ensure a high standard of cleanliness
Keep up to date with the ever-changing early years initiatives and guidance with support from Senior Management
In line with the SSSC requirements, keep personal CPD updated and relevant-As a positive role model ensure you maintain passion and enthusiasm for developing in your professional role.
Utilise available resources i.e. Care inspectorate hub, Education Scotland website, SSSC website etc. to support with providing a quality service.
Attend regular team meetings.
Support with risk assessing.
Keep up to date with mandatory training i.e. first aid, infection control, food hygiene, manual handling, child protection etc.
Utilise community resources and supports to better outcomes for service users.
Track, observe and plan for individual age/stage appropriate learning outcomes.
Continuously act as a positive role model.
Support and contribute to the implementation of high-quality learning through play opportunities and experiences for children, under direction from EYPs/Senior Management.
Set up the playroom and / or play experiences for children, under the direction of EYPs/Senior Management
Support children during play and learning experiences under the direction of EYPs/Senior Management.
Support both individual children and groups of children during every-day tasks (including personal care).
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING:
Academic achievement to Scottish National Level 4 or 5, Standard Grades or equivalent transferable experience and skills
SSSC Registration as support worker within 3 months of taking up post
PVG Membership for Regulated work with Children or willingness to obtain prior to a formal offer of employment being made
Work towards relevant childcare qualification (SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People), SCQF Level 6) in line with SSSC registration requirements.
Up to date or willingness to work towards mandatory training including first aid, infection control, child protection, object handling, and food hygiene
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING:
Recent experience working with children.
Recent experience working in a team/experience being involved in a team-based culture.

Previous experience working with young children.
Effective organisational skills
Ability to prioritise effectively.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE:
Experience of working with young children with a range of additional support needs

Pay: 9.62-13.60 per hour
