Early Years Teaching Assistant-2 exciting new positions starting this September



As the new school year approaches, a specialist school near Whitehaven is looking for two compassionate and enthusiastic Early Years Teaching Assistants to join their team in September. These roles are perfect for those with a background in childcare, early years, or care who want to make a lasting difference in the lives of young children with additional needs.

The Role


Working with children in the Early Years, you'll play a vital role in supporting learning, play, and development in a structured yet nurturing classroom environment. Your day will involve:

Supporting children with communication, social, and sensory needs Creating a safe, stimulating environment where children can explore and learn through play Helping with personal care routines in a respectful, caring way Working closely with teachers and therapists to deliver individualised plans Encouraging independence, resilience, and confidence from the very start of school life

Who We're Looking For


This opportunity would suit anyone with:

A childcare or Early Years qualification (e.g. Level 2/3 in Childcare, EYFS, or equivalent) Experience supporting young children, either in a nursery, school, or care setting A patient, caring, and positive approach A strong interest in SEND and early child development The ability to work as part of a team and adapt to individual needs

The School


This specialist setting has a warm and inclusive ethos, dedicated to giving every child the best start to their education. Staff work collaboratively with families, speech and language therapists, and occupational therapists to create a safe and supportive learning journey for young children with additional needs.

Key Details


Start date: September 2025
Hours: 8.30am - 3.30pm, Monday to Friday (term-time only)
Contract: Long-term temporary, with the possibility to become permanent

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
