I am working with a vibrant Primary school located in Wiltshire that has an ambitious curriculum that supports the development of the whole child. Drawing upon local opportunities to bring history alive, carry out geography fieldwork, be inspired by artists and musicians and explore the diversity of our community, our curriculum aims to support every child in understanding their place in the world. They focus on the individual, ensuring every child is able to learn in a school where mutual respect is championed and where they understand how to value themselves.
This school has an exciting opportunity to become a part of the team that celebrates the rich diversity of backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives that make their school community unique. You would be joining the team as an early years teaching assistant, helping children to develop their education from the very beginning. You will play a vital role in supporting the teacher by helping to set up and maintain learning areas, deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and manage the behaviour and engagement of children. Your role will also include working with children in smaller groups who may need extra support, fostering positive relationships and providing reassurance to young children.
Responsibilities:

  • Adapting lesson materials, making them accessible to the pupil.
  • Providing one to one support during class.
  • Reinforcing learning objectives set by the teacher.
  • Assisting with literacy and numerical tasks breaking them down into more manageable steps.
  • Understanding the individual needs of the pupil to best support them in class.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with children.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with the pupil, parents and colleagues effectively.
  • Patience, empathy and resilience to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Relevant qualifications and training in education.
  • An understanding of relevant safe guarding and child protection procedures.
