Job Description


We are looking for 2 people, both with good communication and organisational skills, an ability to handle data and a commitment to provide excellent customer service to join the E&B One Agriculture Team.

Post 1: Coordinator of the Pig and Poultry Assurance Scheme. You\'ll be the key point of contact for the Certification Bodies that carry out inspections on our behalf and provide permit information prior to their inspections. You\'ll produce compliance reports and liaise with permitted farmers and area Land and Water teams. You\'ll collate data about the scheme and the intensive farming sector and manage the annual scheme risk assessment.

Post 2: Agriculture Officer role to assist in the delivery of our key work areas such as Environmental Permitting, the Pig and Poultry Assurance Scheme, and Nitrate Vulnerable Zones.
You could be involved in:

  • Supporting our work with Defra, Natural England, RPA, and industry bodies
  • Collating data and evidence to help inform future agriculture policy e.g., proposals to extend permitting to dairy and beef.
  • Working with area Land and Water teams to implement and improve our regulatory approach and help solve technical issues.
Both posts will also have the opportunity to work across the Agriculture team and assist in some of our other key work areas.

The team

The Agriculture team is a highly experienced, inclusive and supportive group. We are dispersed across the country yet are close-knit and friendly. We steer the direction, set the priorities and shape our organisation\'s approach to delivering environmental outcomes and better regulation.

A dispersed team where you can work flexibly from your local Environment Agency office and from home. Some occasional travel to meetings and overnight stays may be required but would be optional.

Experience/skills required

These are Officer roles so you will be highly motivated with a proven ability to deliver results and work with others to help achieve common goals.
Essential:
  • Excellent communication and networking skills with the ability to build and maintain good relationships with internal and external customers
  • Strongly motivated and able to deliver work with minimal supervision
  • An understanding of agriculture regulation, and for the assurance scheme post, knowledge of the permitted pig and poultry sector
  • Ability to manipulate and assess data
Good IT skills are desirable with an ability to use Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams and Environment Agency systems.
