Job Description


The Product Marketing Manager will support a range of activities, from analyzing market trends, defining customer needs and evaluating the competitive landscape to developing product roadmaps and pricing proposals as well as develop and implement growth strategies.

General Responsibilities

  • Participates in developing specific marketing plans and activities for specific product(s) or product line(s) to establish, enhance or distinguish product placement within the competitive arena
  • Develops business plans and product positioning in the marketplace
  • Performs market research, monitors competitive activity and identifies customer needs
  • Establishes pricing strategies
Experience / Qualifications
  • A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience
  • Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
  • Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation

Heavy Vehicle Off Road- Product Marketing Manager

Sensata Technologies is looking for a strong individual to support the successful growth of the Heavy Vehicle Off-Road (HVOR) business unit that serves commercial trucks and trailers, construction and agriculture equipment as well as motorcycles and recreational vehicles. HVOR OEMs are seeking support to address the challenges of the future related to safety, efficiency and sustainability. Sensata is a leading provider of content for vehicle systems in the HVOR market segments and the Product Marketing Manager will be responsible to understand the market and drive growth.

The Product Marketing Manager will use leadership skills, technical knowledge, strong business acumen and inputs from a cross-functional global team to drive and develop a range of activities, from analyzing market trends, defining customer needs and evaluating the competitive landscape to develop and execute product roadmaps and pricing strategies. The Product Marketing Manager will secure alignment with adjacent growth oriented disciplines like CTO office and business development, but also drive execution of defined strategies towards engineering, sales and product line owners to position Sensata as the leading provider.

Responsibilities include, amongst others, developing a prioritized and quantified pipeline of growth opportunities and developing and executing on market strategies.

The Product Marketing Manager is part of a strong global team, and reports into the Director of Marketing, global HVOR.

Experience / Qualifications:
  • Education and experience
  • B.S. degree in engineering or related field (MS in engineering and/or MBA highly preferred);
  • 3+ years of prior experience working in the automotive, heavy vehicle (truck, bus) and / or off-road vehicle markets (i.e., construction and agriculture);
  • Additional prior experience or working knowledge of machine control systems, which may include sensors, operator controls, hydraulics, or other vehicle systems is a plus;
  • Ability to master a broad product portfolio that consists of various sensors and systems (pressure/position/temperature sensors, contactors, fuses, battery management systems, power distribution units);
  • Strong technical aptitude; strong technical and commercial skills are essential;
  • Strong negotiation skills; experience in pricing or contract negotiations desirable;
  • Exceptional presentation and customer-facing skills (at technical as well as commercial or management interactions);
  • Working knowledge of heavy duty vehicle (on-road and/or off-road) industry is desirable;
  • Solid understanding of financial fundamentals;
  • Advanced Skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and Salesforce;
  • Experience with Demantra, Oracle, vehicle (e.g., IHS) market database a plus;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills - fluent in English (other languages a plus)
  • Proven success delivering results in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Proactive approach, and ability to work well under pressure
  • Working knowledge of Six Sigma or other formal problem-solving methodology, and familiarity with AIAG requirements and TS16949 quality system requirements is a plus.

Responsibilities include:
  • Market size and segmentation analysis. Support the development and maintenance of market quantification models, sources for market data and a system to track market size and its changes over time;
  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize legislative, competitive and technical discontinuities and their impact, generating insight around opportunities or threats;
  • Generate and maintain a prioritized and quantified pipeline of growth opportunities, with respect to organic as well as inorganic growth;
  • Develop and execute marketing strategies on application level based on value Sensata brings compared to alternative or competitive solutions;
  • Set up and maintain a commercial and technical understanding of competitive solutions, in close cooperation with engineering;
  • Strategic annual short term and long range market planning to maximize growth with Sensata\xe2\x80\x99s rapidly expanding portfolio.
  • Secure alignment with other growth oriented disciplines like CTO office and business development;
  • Drive execution of market strategies through collaboration of cross-functional teams (including Sales, Engineering and Business functions).
