About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an
EC&I Technician
on behalf of our esteemed client within the engineering sector. This is a hands-on role focused on installation, commissioning, inspection, maintenance, and fault-finding of Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) systems. The successful candidate will work primarily on-site, ensuring compliance with safety standards and delivering reliable project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of EC&I systems.
Conduct site surveys, inspections, and fault diagnosis on electrical and instrumentation equipment.
Support commissioning activities, including loop checking, site acceptance testing (SAT), and troubleshooting.
Perform containment and cabling works, including glanding, termination, and wiring.
Assist in the specification, setup, and integration of instruments, sensors, and control panels.
Ensure compliance with ATEX requirements, including hazardous area installation and inspection.
Provide technical support during shutdowns, turnarounds, and planned maintenance.
Complete accurate project/site documentation such as test records, inspection reports, and handover packs.
Work collaboratively with engineers, contractors, and clients to achieve project objectives safely and efficiently.
Candidate Profile
Essential:
Demonstrable experience in hands-on EC&I installation, commissioning, and maintenance.
Strong knowledge of fault-finding and troubleshooting in industrial environments.
ATEX experience/qualifications (CompEx or equivalent).
Familiarity with electrical drawings, instrument loop diagrams, and panel layouts.
Strong awareness of health & safety practices, particularly in hazardous areas.
Advantageous:
Previous experience within highly regulated industries (chemical, oil & gas, nuclear, or similar).
Understanding of IEC standards relating to functional safety (IEC61508 / IEC61511).
Knowledge of intrinsically safe circuits and verification dossiers.
