To enhance our specialist services support, we are seeking an Ecology & Sustainability Assistant for a temporary role of 3 months, with the possibility of extending to 6 months. Working on a variety of projects you will work with the Ecology & Biodiversity Lead within the Sustainability team to provide support to a variety of projects across the UK and Ireland.

Your key responsibilities will be:

Supporting the environmental screening of projects to identify risks and opportunities Working with project teams to embed good practice around ecology and environmental management Supporting on Biodiversity Net Gain assessments and advice to design teams Working with COWI's network of Biodiversity Champions to share learning and best practice Supporting internal training initiatives around Biodiversity Supporting work within the wider Sustainability team as required

On top of that, you'll have:

A degree in Ecology, Environmental Impact Assessments or a similar topic Knowledge of terrestrial and freshwater UK habitats and the challenges faced in a changing climate Be working towards professional membership of CIEEM Have a genuine interest in the natural environment and a willingness to learn Effective communication and collaboration skills Experience in using the Defra Statutory Biodiversity Net Gain Metric Knowledge of terrestrial habitat management techniques (desirable) Knowledge of UK & Ireland ecology legislation (desirable)
