In a fast-changing publishing landscape, OUP welcomes the inquisitive, the inventive, and the ambitious; people who challenge the conventional, and pioneer the possible.About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to join the Editorial and Delivery team in the Education UK Division, creating high-quality, market-leading resources for primary and secondary school students.In this role you will be responsible for taking print and digital projects, for Maths and other subjects as required, through the production process, working with authors, freelancers and other in-house editors, and design and digital teams, to ensure that high-quality, market-appropriate products publish on time and within budget.Principle accountabilities/key result areas:Responsibilities include:

  • Applying editorial skills, judgement, and best practice to ensure that products are accurate, appropriate, accessible and published to specifications.
  • Progressing resources through the production process, from manuscript to finished product (both print and digital resources).
  • Proactive problem-solving to ensure that resources come out to schedule and within budget.
  • Building and fostering good working relationships with colleagues, freelancers, authors and suppliers.
  • Monitoring spend against defined budgets.
  • Developing skills in print and digital resource production for the schools market.
We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.About YouOur ideal candidate will be an expert in mathematics with publishing experience in a similar role. Technical abilities with experience producing educational material will also make you a stand out.The successful candidate must demonstrate the following:Essential:
  • Highly proficient in/outstanding understanding of mathematics, sufficient to test, fix and edit for the full 5-18 age range
  • Experience in editing mathematics content
  • Editorial experience including experience of managing projects in a publishing environment
  • A background in educational publishing
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent, high levels of literacy and numeracy.
  • Excellent attention to detail and good organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to work with a range of stakeholders
  • Excellent IT skills with experience of Microsoft Office
  • An inquisitive, problem-solving mindset
Desirable:
  • Experience of teaching or tutoring Maths
  • Some experience of using coding languages
  • Familiarity with online learning platforms, such as MyMaths
  • A willingness to learn new skills and processes, including how to manipulate code, such as JavaScript and xml
