This role is to support the editorial strategy as a member of the Editors team by copy-editing, fact-checking, and contributing written articles. We are looking for a candidate with strong editing skills, a flair for writing, a meticulous eye for detail, and a love of science. You'll need to be comfortable editing and covering a wide range of scientific topics.



As an Editor, you will have a proven ability to edit and fact-check copy quickly and accurately to a high standard, while maximising content potential with imaginative headlines. As a writer, you will use your creativity, writing skills, and technical expertise to produce high-quality written pieces for the IFLScience website.

Responsibilities:




Maintain the brand's high editorial standards and IFLS editorial style throughout all content Copy edit and fact-check articles to ensure they are accurate, properly cited, and well-written Correct any grammatical errors, including spelling, syntax, and styling of text Monitor news cycle and trends in science-related news, identify appropriate stories, and contribute to the editorial meetings with content ideas Write news and feature articles on a range of topics, interview experts Occasionally work on special projects



Requirements:




A love of science and a desire to share this with our readers A creative, engaging writing style and demonstrable editing experience Excellent English written and communication skills, including spelling and grammar Strong organizational, time management, research, and analytical skills Ability to work quickly and accurately under tight deadlines 1-2 years in a corporate environment or business setting; preference to science communications; digital media; writing, journalism, or similar professional experience Bachelor's degree in a science-related field Previous experience with science/science communications is an asset
