Editorial Administrator

London, United Kingdom

Job Description

Are you an organized, efficient, and excellent communicator who is looking to begin a career in scientific publishing? We are looking for an Editorial Administrator to become a vital part of a small, close-knit team in London. In this role, you\'ll be involved in all aspects of editorial processes, providing invaluable support to authors, reviewers, and editors across a portfolio of STM journals (with a new one about to launch!).

Under the guidance of the Co-Heads of Publishing, you\'ll be tasked with:

  • Streamlining manuscript processing to ensure efficiency.
  • Providing support to editors, reviewers, and authors, addressing their queries promptly
  • Reviewing submissions to ensure compliance with specified requirements
  • Building strong relationships with journal editors, offering ethical guidance and assistance in reviewer selection
  • Collaborating with Co-Heads of Publishing to enhance the peer review management system and internal editorial processes
  • Preparing statistical reports and maintaining records on paper submissions, acceptances, and review timelines
  • Assisting in the launch of a new journal, contributing to author guidelines, managing manuscripts through peer review, and supporting marketing efforts
  • Managing the social media presence, taking charge of the Twitter and Facebook accounts, creating engaging posts to promote journal articles, special features, podcasts, books, and other initiatives
We are looking for a team player who thrives in a friendly and collaborative environment, with strong organizational skills to ensure smooth workflow and meticulous attention to detail. This is the perfect role for someone with a genuine and demonstrated passion for publishing (ideally with a focus on STM content) as it will offer a unique opportunity to broaden your expertise and advance your career within a supportive team that will provide excellent mentorship and guidance as you contribute to the success of their journals.

For a full description of the role, please send your CV with a brief paragraph outlining your relevant skills.

Closing Date: Early applications may be prioritised.
