The Opportunity:
You will provide administrative and editorial support for the academic journal Critical African Studies , working closely with the editorial team within established processes and procedures in the day-to-day administration of the journal, including coordinating workflow for journal issues and assisting with the management of other journal projects. You will also provide copy editing of articles including grammatical errors, checking bibliographic sources, and suggesting changes to improve articles for tone and target audience.
This post is fixed term from 5 January 2026 to 4 January 2028.
This post is part-time (7 hours per week). We are open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote within the UK and regular on-campus working.
The salary for this post is 26,093 to 28,778 pro rata per annum.
Your skills and attributes for success:
Vocational qualifications (N/SVQ 2/3, ONC or equivalent) plus relevant work experience OR School education to Standard Grade/National 5 or equivalent plus relevant work experience.
Experience of copyediting
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, especially Word and Excel
Experience of maintaining detailed online records
Ability to prioritise workloads effectively
