Job summary
We're seeking a creative and detail-oriented Editorial Assistant to support the Editor in producing high-quality content across print, digital and multimedia platforms. The ideal candidate will have a journalism degree (or similar field), a strong multimedia skillset (including video editing, podcasting or visual storytelling), and a passion for the ocean and marine conservation.
Key responsibilities

• Assist with planning, researching and producing editorial content for print and digital platforms
• Write, proofread and fact-check articles, interviews and features
• Support in the creation and editing of multimedia content (video, audio, photography)
• Manage and upload web content, ensuring SEO best practices
• Liaise with contributors, photographers and partners to coordinate content delivery
• Maintain editorial calendars and assist with production schedules
• Support social media content creation and community engagement

Skills & qualifications

• A degree or equivalent qualification in journalism, media or a related field
• Demonstrated experience in writing and editing content
• Proficiency in multimedia tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, Audacity, Canva, etc.)
• Good understanding of digital storytelling and visual communication
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small, collaborative team
• A genuine passion for the ocean, environmental issues and storytelling that drives impact

Desirable

• Experience in publishing, magazine journalism or environmental reporting
• Familiarity with WordPress, email marketing tools and analytics
• Knowledge of marine science, ocean conservation or related topics
