Founded in 1830, UCL has one of the largest philosophy departments in the UK and is a world-leading centre for teaching and research. All major areas of philosophy can be studied at UCL. We cover branches such as political thought, epistemology and metaphysics, and also draw upon the writings of Ancient and Modern philosophers to place our programmes in a historical context. The departmental administrative team provides a wide range of administrative support to facilitate the delivery of teaching and research activity. We work proactively and collaboratively with academic colleagues across the department and in UCL Central Professional Services in order to make UCL a great place to work and study. The post holder will be part of the Department's Teaching and Learning team who work together in a close network to support all our students and academic staff.


About the role

Main purpose of the job Working as part of a team to provide specialist administration to designated taught degree programmes, ensuring effective procedures are adopted and documented for dealing with all aspects of the administration. o Assist in achieving a high quality and timely service to current and prospective students and staff related to the designated taught degree programmes and beyond. o Provide support for all matters relating to the teaching and learning activities of students, from enquiry to completion, including supporting committees and processes relating to assessment, student, and programme records


About you

You should have a minimum of five GCSEs at Grade C or above (including Mathematics and English) or have similar relevant work experience. You must have worked in a busy office environment, preferably within higher education. You should be very organised in your work, excellent at performing administrative duties, and be comfortable using a variety of software and systems. You will need good communication skills and have the desire to offer a high level of service. You will need to be able to work well as part of a team, liaise with a variety of people, and establish good working relationships with staff and students in a teaching and learning context.
