Overall purpose of the Job:

Using the brand of Blackburn Rovers FC and the power of football and sport for positive social change, we are seeking to appoint a Education and Sport Coordinator.
The Education and Sport Coordinator will work closely with the Head of Education to support key areas of curriculum delivery, student engagement, and sports coordination.
Lead and coordinate curriculum development, including course planning, scheduling, and ensuring alignment with required guided learning hours.
Oversee and support the recruitment process for BTEC courses, ensuring effective engagement strategies and successful learner enrolment.
Oversee internal and external verification processes, ensuring compliance with quality assurance standards related to teaching, learning, lesson plans, and subject unit outlines.
Collaborate with our subcontracted college, coordinating QA visits and attending meetings to monitor learner enrolments and tracking activities.
Plan and coordinate high-quality football and sport coaching sessions for BTEC students and oversee the organisation of matches.
Carry out teaching and pastoral responsibilities as directed by the Head of Education, Skills and Training Services.
Support student welfare by providing guidance on bursaries, exam entries, and accessing additional learner support services.
Deliver high-quality teaching and learning for BTEC Level 1, 2, and 3 sport students while contributing to other Trust programmes as required.

Ensure the completion of internal and external verification processes, overseeing quality assurance related to teaching, learning, lesson plans, and subject unit outlines.
Liaise with our subcontracted college, arranging QA visits, attending meetings, and tracking learner enrolments and progress.
Teach BTEC Level 1, 2, and 3 in Sport, as well as support the delivery of University of South Wales (USW) programmes.
Support and mentor PGCE trainees through placement coordination, lesson observations, and feedback to meet ITT requirements
Collaborate with teachers and coaches to enhance the quality of sports provision and student learning experiences.
Contribute to maintaining excellence in teaching and learning for BTEC Sport students.
Maintain regular contact with absent students and their parents/guardians to offer support and encourage attendance.
Work alongside the Head of Education, Skills and Training to prioritise student welfare, ensuring additional support is provided when needed.
Safeguard and promote student welfare, ensuring all student interactions and support arrangements align with safeguarding policies.
Act as a personal tutor, guiding and mentoring students to help them achieve their academic and personal development goals.

Person Specification:
Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications:
Essential:
Experience coordinating programmes and/or teams.
Strong knowledge of funding, awarding body standards, and quality assurance.
Teaching qualification at Level 4 or above (e.g. Certificate in Education, PGCE, or equivalent).
Degree in Sport or any other relevant field Level 2 qualification in Sport (e.g. BTEC, NVQ, A-Level PE) or higher.
Maths and English GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent Level 2 qualification).
Full UK Driving License
Up-to-date knowledge of the BTEC Sport specifications.
An awareness of the assessment procedures and verification of BTEC courses.
Leadership experience.
Ability to assess and mark students work against set criteria.
Personal tutor or mentor.
Desirable:
Assessor qualification (e.g. TAQA, A1, or equivalent).
Internal Verifier qualification (e.g. V1 or equivalent).
Level 2 or 3 coaching certificate in one or more sports (e.g. FA Level 2).
Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English (if not already held at GCSE).
First Aid qualification.
D1 (Minibus driving licence)
Acceptance to complete mandatory training, there may be conditions attached to these training courses.
