Education Coordinator
to help deliver and shape our post-11 and post-19 education and intervention programmes.
This is a new and evolving role, ideal for someone who thrives in a varied, hands-on environment and is eager to help build and deliver innovative, needs-led support for children and young people.
MAIN PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE JOB
This role supports the planning, development, and delivery of 21 Together's education and intervention programmes. Working closely with the Education Lead, you will play a key role in creating and delivering engaging educational and social opportunities for young people with Down's syndrome. You will also investigate and foster links across Kent to provide opportunities and pathways for our young people into successful adult life.
Ideally, you will have a background in secondary education, speech and language therapy, or a related field, along with a solid understanding of additional needs and complex behaviours.

DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1: Learning, development and progress
Lead intervention sessions, including weekly S-Club sessions and S-Club+ activities.
Collaborate with the Education Lead to develop and deliver creative, inclusive, and needs-led educational and social communication programmes and personal learning plans.
Facilitate workshops and group sessions that promote social, emotional, and cognitive development, fostering a positive, inclusive environment that encourages participation, respect, and self-confidence.
Collaborate with families, carers, schools, and external professionals to ensure an holistic support.
Maintain detailed and accurate records of attendance, progress, and engagement and produce programme evaluations, reports, and presentations for stakeholders.
2: Outreach, service development and pathfinding
You will also investigate and foster links across Kent which provide opportunities and pathways for our young people into successful adult life with the support of the Education Lead and CEO.
Investigate opportunities for collaboration with statutory, third sector and education/health settings, contributing to the charity's wider growth in the post-16 context
It is the nature of the post that tasks and responsibilities are, in many circumstances, unpredictable and varied. The post holder will therefore be expected to work in a flexible way.

Attend management meetings, staff meetings and relevant training sessions.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential:
Qualification
or
substantial experience in a relevant area(e.g., Qualified Teacher Status, Speech and Language Therapy, or similar).
Demonstrable experience in delivering educational programmes or group activities for individuals with disabilities.
Strong communication and teamwork skills and an ability to work flexibly in a developing area of our work.
Ability to engage effectively with young people, families, staff, and professionals.
Self-starting and confident in communicating with a wide range of partners, including parents, statutory providers, schools and other professionals
Empathy, patience, humour, and a passion for working with individuals with Down's syndrome.
Desirable:
Experience within the charity or non-profit sector.
Knowledge of disability rights, inclusive education, and relevant legislation.
Additional qualifications in SEND, behaviour management, or similar.
Familiarity with assistive technologies and inclusive learning tools.
Specific experience and/or knowledge of supporting young people with Down's syndrome.
Location:
Central Maidstone (ME14 1HH) with some travel across Kent
Salary:
Band 4A 27,336.38 - 30,164.70 Full Time Equivalent (FTE), depending on experience
Hours:
Part-Time, Annualised Hours (711 hours per annum, approx. 0.36 FTE)
Idea of how hours will be allocated across the year:
09:00 - 15:30 : 6hrs x30 Saturdays (including 30min unpaid lunch) in SClub group with children aged 11-18 years
16:30 - 20:30: 4hrs x9 Saturdays in SClub+ group with young people from 19-25 years
9:30 - 14:30: 5hrs x9 weekdays (3 consecutive days during 3 half terms - Oct, Feb and May) SClub+ smiLE therapy sessions
10 hours per week flexible for other tasks, such as (but not limited to) making links within the wider community, outreach work and reporting: x40 weeks
50 hours for Speech Club support (3.5 consecutive days in April/August school holidays)
