Job Description

HS4LC's Skills Bridge programme began in September 2018. Since then, our offer has expanded, and we now offer a range of employment-focussed educational programmes in partnership with North Yorkshire County Council.

We are looking for an educational lead to help design and deliver inspirational employability, or functional skills, and PSHE sessions.

We are committed to increasing opportunities and to reducing barriers for young people with learning disabilities and/or autism and believe that all our learners have the right to be as independent as possible and be able to express their uniqueness through their skills and personalities. We know that this will only enhance and enrich our local community.

With the Skills Bridge lead contribute to the planning and development of learning programmes and curricula which enable individual learners to achieve their aspirations in a safe and supportive environment.



-Support the Skills Bridge Lead to develop curricula and associated policies and procedures in line with NYCC and Ofsted requirements

-Support the Skills Bridge Lead, and work with other Leads, to implement the behavioural policy across Skills Bridge to ensure fairness and the creation of a safe environment for all Skills Bridge learners and staff

To deliver employability or functional skills, as well as PSHE, and enable learners with SEN across Skills Bridge's programmes to develop thier employability or functional skills. If appropriate support learners to gain qualifications in employability or maths and English

-To manage LSA and other team members who contribute to educational delivery and with the Skills Bridge Lead carry out walk arounds, observations and file checks in line with quality requirements

-To work with Skills Bridge Lead and Job Coach Leads to ensure all staff are allocated appropriate duties and that teaching and learning requirements are met

-To comply with Safeguarding policy and act as Deputy Safeguarding Lead reporting all concerns through the Designated Safeguarding Lead

-To attend EHCP reviews for a caseload of learners and contribute teaching reports to all ECHP reviews in line with NYCC requirements

-To cover EHCP reviews for Skills Bridge Lead when required

To work with the Skills Bridge Lead to ensure all teaching and learning for programmes is planned, timetabled and delivered to focus on EHCP outcomes and individual progression

Assess and identify the learning needs of individual learners and evidence and recognise achievement through the RARPA process as well as track progress towards learning outcomes

To work with learners and Job Coaches to develop and monitor Individual Learning Plans and weekly progress towards targets

To continue to develop and update learning and assessment materials for course delivery.

To maintain the necessary administration and underpinning teaching and accreditation documentation in line with service quality and qualification standards.

To keep up-to-date with subject specific information, changes and awarding body syllabus requirements as well as accreditation expectations for the subjects delivered.

To attend staff meetings at agreed times and share good practice.

-To behave in an appropriate manner and respect the rights and dignity of all learners and staff.

-To assist in developing, implementing and maintaining quality and performance standards for the service.

Through a Professional Development Plan (PDP), keep up to date in the subject area and maintain relevant professional qualifications.

Carry out any other duties which may be required by the Skills Bridge Lead in accordance with the needs of the service and commensurate with the general level of the position

Other Duties:

To maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job, participating in appropriate training activities

Carry out any other duties which may be required by Senior Management in accordance with the needs of the service and commensurate with the general level of the post.

Requirements



Minimum Level 3 (AET) teaching qualification

Experience of teaching Employability, or Functional Skills, and PSHE

Experience of ECHP requirements and chairing EHCP reviews

Knowledge and experience of the RARPA framework

Knowledge of employability and/or functional skills qualifications (NCFE & OCN)

Knowledge of appropriate learning outcome frameworks for SEN (e.g. preparation for adulthood and CDI)

Experience of line management and coaching of team members

Commitment to the values of Harrogate Skills for Living

This role requires an enhanced with disclosure and barred list check and 5 years of references before an offer of employment can be made.
