Riverside Education is an OFSTED 'Outstanding' independent school catering for students aged 14-19 with Special Education Needs and associated behaviours.

Job Purpose

We wish to appoint an enthusiastic and creative Tutor to work with a student on a one to one basis; this may take place at home, school or in the community. The role will require you to provide academic and pastoral support to the students in a range of subjects which will include Maths, English and Science up to GCSE level. You may be working within a small classroom group.

When you are not with your student you will be supporting other students in lessons at school. You will also be expected to support or lead tutorial and enrichment sessions. You will need to be confident completing paperwork and ensure relevant folders are kept updated.

It would be desirable that you hold a valid driving license and have access to the use of a car.

Tutors will be expected to work across all three of our sites in Birmingham.

Key responsibilities

Plan and teach lessons

Manage behaviour effectively

Provide pastoral support

Support students with their SEND needs

Complete assessment and associated administrative tasks

Other duties

Other duties may include but are not limited to:

Delivering or supporting tutorials and enrichments

Completing paperwork for students

Break duty

Supporting and/or covering lessons

Qualifications, training and Experience

Experience working with young people is desirable

Good standard of Maths and English
