Job summary
This role supports the Director Education by ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and managing strategic interactions with senior internal and external stakeholders. It oversees key governance groups, coordinates high-level visits and events, and ensures quality briefings and communications. The postholder also manages the Director's diary and travel, leads stakeholder engagement processes, and supports alignment of education stakeholder work with broader British Council strategies, reporting to the Head of Government Relations (Education).
Job description
This role is responsible for managing strategic relationships and communications with senior internal and external stakeholders in the education sector, including overseeing the Director Education's diary, travel, and engagement activities. It ensures high-quality service delivery through managing advisory groups, coordinating briefings, and supporting major events like the Education World Forum. The postholder drives service improvements by streamlining processes and leveraging digital tools, while also promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of their work. They contribute to leadership by fostering inclusive practices, supporting EDI initiatives, and ensuring effective stakeholder engagement across the British Council's education portfolio.
Person specification
Experience in using technology effectively in the workplace
Demonstrated knowledge and experience of providing effective administrative support
Ability to evaluate existing processes and practice and propose more efficient solutions with positive impact
Proven capacity as a strong team player with a 'can do' solutions-focused attitude, and ability to flex to ensure a high standard of delivery
Experience of working across different cultures and recognising then addressing any unconscious biases
Understands and promotes ethical conduct, and able to ensure that own behaviour and the behaviour of others is consistent with these standards and values of the British Council including those set out in our EDI priorities.
