MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:



To provide a professional service to schools and support them to meet their duties in accordance with the Education Act 1996 and the Children's Act 1989 (Education Supervision Orders). To identify and assess the needs of children and young people where there are concerns in relation to school attendance or their general welfare. To track and monitor school attendance data half termly to ensure the school is meeting or exceeding its attendance and persistent absence targets.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



To work collaboratively with the School Staff, pupils and parents/carers to promote positive attendance among all pupils, and to help pupils overcome barriers to learning & attendance. To contribute to meetings within school as appropriate. In cases of poor attendance to assess the situation, liaise with parents and school and provide support as necessary. To offer advice and guidance on attendance matters to parents. Undertake parental contacts, home visits and other meetings with families and in accordance with lone working policies. To develop and maintain contacts with voluntary and statutory agencies. To protect children from risk of harm and consult other agencies as necessary to promote the safeguarding and welfare of the child/family. To compile and maintain case files and school files. To prepare Education Welfare reports for Court and support schools to complete their paperwork as needed. To support schools with applications for penalty notices where needed.
Job Types: Fixed term contract, Freelance
Contract length: 10 months

Pay: From 22.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 21 per week
