We are excited to announce that we have been successful in a bid to secure 2 years of funding to develop a centre of excellence to offer holistic, evidence based, psychological support for adopted and special guardianship families across the ATV region.

About us

Adopt Thames Valley Regional Adoption Agency launched in December 2017 and is the shared Adoption Service for Bracknell Forest, Oxfordshire, Reading Borough Council (Brighter Futures for Children), The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead (Achieving for Children), Swindon Borough Council, West Berkshire Borough Council and Wokingham Borough Council.

Our vision is to build on the model currently offered within Oxfordshire by our partner team ATTACH, creating a multi-disciplinary therapeutic team for families in the rest of the ATV region, and we are looking for creative, passionate individuals to join us.

We believe in the importance of offering high quality, multi-disciplinary therapeutic support to some of our most vulnerable families, families whose needs are often not understood within the context of other agencies. We aim to build a team, rooted in an understanding of developmental trauma.

We want to build a team with Clinical and Educational Psychology, Occupational Therapy and Senior Practitioners. We want individuals that are dedicated to understanding the needs of adoptive and SGO families and are committed to building a team to meet these needs.

About the role

We recognise the high level of educational need of the children and young people we work with and are committed to being able to provide specialised Educational Psychologist intervention at both an individual and a strategic level, to meet such need. We are looking for an individual who can provide specialised assessment and school-based intervention for young people. Who is confident at supporting school staff to understand the needs of adoptive children and those in special guardianship families. Who can offer training and consultation to embed such knowledge, whilst working strategically across the region to engage partner organisations in understanding and meeting the needs of our children.

About you

Are you the right person to join us for this journey? Our hope being that our success means that we will be able to secure longer term funding.

This is just the beginning. If you are interested in both the opportunity to play a strategic role in the development of a new service and the chance to work with young people and families who have experienced developmental trauma, then please get in touch to discuss further.
