Role Purpose:



The Sheffield College is a large, vibrant and diverse further education college and we are proud of how the college contributes to transforming lives through learning by meeting local skills needs.

As an Educational, Health and Care Plan Co-Ordinator you will be responsible for the planning and delivery of support for High Needs students with Education, Health and Care Plans. Post holders will plan chair and update the EHCP review meetings, monitor progress and track destinations. Working in a cluster with other SEND Professionals post holders may have line management responsibility for a team of learning support assistants and deployment of LSAs to provide learning support.

Main Responsibilities:



Act as a key contact for high needs students at and coming into college ensuring staff teams understand the EHCP outcomes and content.


You will be responsible for conducting a caseload of reviews of the EHCP in a timely manner updating outcomes on EHCPs and informing the Transition and Progression Coordinator of any changes.


Referring complex cases to the Transition and Progression Coordinator team to ensure that a standardised department response can be agreed.


Ensure the staff responsible for learning understand the student outcomes and how these can be met. You will understand and share methods to promote student Independence through SMART target setting and will ensure outcomes set support all students in their preparation for adulthood.


Ensure the outcomes are tracked and met and any risk of a student falling behind made clear to the Transition and Progression Coordinator.


Ensure documentation for the annual review of EHCP is administered in line with the SEND code of practice.


If required manage a team of Learner Support Assistants, as well as a caseload of students across different curriculum areas, to ensure the needs of high needs students effectively met.


As a line manage ensure Learner Support Assistants use their skills to adapt and develop materials which are accessible to high needs students.


Lead on the supportive management of the LSA team by taking responsibility for conducting Go Further Reviews, fairly and proactively managing performance and working with the People Team to manage any underperformance.


Collate and store exam access arrangement evidence for High Needs Students. This will involve ensure the EHCP is available, a file note is complete and where necessary that a referral to the SpLD team has taken place.


From time-to-time these responsibilities may be reviewed so that they evolve as part of the college's strategic growth and success. You may also be required to take on other tasks related to the job to support the College in the delivery of its strategic aims, without changing the role's main purpose.

People Management and Cross-college Responsibilities



You may directly line-manage the following posts:

Learner Support Assistants


You may be required to participate in cross-college teams and working groups on key projects.

You may need to attend relevant internal committees and groups. This could include preparing and presenting papers as required.

You will act as a role model to colleagues, ensuring that the responsibilities of the post are carried out in line with the College's FREDIE+ values and behaviors.

You will be required to support and/or manage people management processes within your area which could include but is not limited to absence management, flexible working, low-level/informal conduct issues, low-level/informal grievances, and performance management.

Student Related Responsibilities



Anyone who has regular contact with children and young people in their day-to-day responsibilities must ensure they are safe. You will work with the Safeguarding Team, ensuring concerns regarding students/apprentices are shared in a timely, accurate manner


You will be involved in supporting college open days, supporting during the exam season, student enrolment and any other required events

Other Responsibilities

As the successful candidate, you will be offered a salary of between 32,523 - 36,566 per annum based upon a combination of the skills, knowledge and experience that you can bring to the role.
