Our client is looking for an Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) Engineer to join their Energy business - a team working at the forefront of the UK's nuclear and renewable energy transformation. Why This Role?

This role offers variety, challenge, and the opportunity to make a genuine impact. You'll support projects spanning the full lifecycle - from concept and design through to commissioning - across nuclear generation, small modular reactors (SMRs), renewables, and high-energy industrial facilities such as hydrogen plants and data centres.

You'll be part of a collaborative team that values innovation, diversity, and continuous improvement. Our client's culture is built around integrity, inclusion, and support - ensuring that you're empowered to grow and thrive professionally.

The Challenge

As an EC&I Engineer, you'll manage and deliver engineering solutions to time, cost, and quality standards across projects of varying size and complexity. Working alongside Principal and Senior Engineers, Engineering Managers, and Operations Managers, your work will directly contribute to safe and efficient operations across the UK energy landscape.

Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting the design, development, testing, and implementation of EC&I systems for nuclear and energy projects. Producing design calculations, technical specifications, drawings, and reports to meet project and regulatory requirements. Applying Systems Engineering principles to new architectures and supporting requirements capture. Contributing across the full project lifecycle - from bid generation and concept design through to detailed development, installation, and commissioning. Supporting systems integration, testing, and validation of PLC, SCADA, and simulator systems. Preparing design safety documentation and ensuring compliance with nuclear safety standards. Conducting site surveys, inspections, and commissioning activities. Contributing to technical investigations, problem-solving, and root cause analysis. Producing high-quality technical reports and documentation. Building and maintaining strong relationships with colleagues, clients, and partners to enable successful project delivery.

This is a role where your people skills will be as valuable as your technical expertise. You'll collaborate across multiple UK sites, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions that add real value.

What You'll Bring

We're seeking a motivated engineer who is eager to develop and grow in a supportive environment. You'll bring:

A degree (BEng/BSc/MEng/MSc) or equivalent in EC&I or a related discipline. Working towards or keen to achieve Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (full support provided). Awareness of civil nuclear plant systems or experience from another highly regulated industry. Knowledge of EC&I principles, design tools, and relevant standards (e.g., BS, IEC, IEEE - particularly IEC 61508, 61511, 61513, 61226, and ONR SAPs/TAGs). Understanding of control system lifecycles including specification, design, verification, testing, and commissioning. Familiarity with high-integrity hardware or software-based control systems. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently across diverse technical and non-technical teams.

If you have a collaborative mindset, enjoy solving complex problems, and want to work on projects that truly matter, this is the role for you.
