Important to know



Due to the nature of our work many of our roles require a UK nationality and the ability to obtain a security clearance (at least five years' UK residency). What you'll be doing



Design & Development

of electrical systems for autonomous vessels -- including power distribution, propulsion control, sensors, and communication networks.

Integration with Control Systems:

Collaborate with software, control, and automation engineers to ensure seamless onboard system integration.

Ensure Compliance:

Design systems that meet industry standards, maritime regulations, and classification society requirements.

Testing & Validation:

Lead and support system testing, performance validation, and fault resolution.

Collaborative Design:

Work closely with naval architects, mechanical engineers, and software developers to deliver integrated solutions.

Documentation:

Produce detailed technical documentation including design specs, test plans, and compliance reports.

What you'll need



A degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field), or equivalent hands-on experience. Recent, relevant experience in

marine electrical system design

. Proficiency in

AutoCAD

or similar electrical design tools. In-depth knowledge of electrical principles, marine systems, and standards (e.g., IEC, SOLAS, DNV). Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey technical info clearly to multidisciplinary teams.

Desirable experience



Working knowledge of

autonomous navigation systems

, including sensor tech such as LIDAR, radar, and GPS. Familiarity with

communication protocols

such as CAN bus, NMEA 2000, and Ethernet-based networks. Experience with

power management systems

for electric and hybrid propulsion.
