The Role

An opportunity has arisen for an

Electrical Design Engineer

to join a growing MEP design team. The role involves producing high-quality electrical designs, supporting multi-disciplinary projects, and contributing to the delivery of coordinated, efficient building services solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Design and specify electrical building services systems including power, lighting, fire alarms, and security systems. Prepare detailed calculations, schematics, drawings, and schedules. Collaborate closely with mechanical and public health engineers for coordinated design delivery. Liaise with clients, architects, and contractors to ensure project requirements are met. Conduct site visits, surveys, and inspections to assess installation quality and compliance. Ensure designs comply with relevant British Standards, Building Regulations, and industry guidance. Support junior team members and contribute to continuous improvement within the team.

Requirements

Degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in Electrical or Building Services Engineering. Minimum of 3 years' experience in electrical design for building services. Knowledge of relevant electrical standards and regulations (BS 7671, CIBSE guidelines, etc). Experience with AutoCAD essential; Revit or BIM exposure advantageous. Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills. Strong communication and organisational abilities. Able to work independently or as part of a team. Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK.
