Contract Type: Permanent Full time 37 hours per week
Reference: REC2208 | Closing Date: Monday, 28th July 2025
The Opportunity
As our Electrical Installations Trainer, you'll play a key role in shaping the careers of our future electricians and electrical engineers. You'll deliver hands-on, high-quality training across various electrical installation courses - from apprenticeships to technical diplomas and industry-recognised qualifications.
Approximately 25% of your time will be focused on teaching, where you'll run engaging, industry-relevant lessons that spark enthusiasm and build confidence. The remaining 75% will be spent assessing - supporting learners through practical observations, written assignments, and workplace visits to ensure they gain the technical skills, safety awareness, and professionalism needed for the job.
Your work won't stop at teaching and assessing. You'll also design and update learning materials, maintain a safe and modern workshop, and keep up with the latest tools and technologies. Working closely with employers, you'll help apprentices get the most from their on-the-job training and move forward in their careers.
This is a great chance to put your industry experience to good use in a rewarding role - with great benefits like generous holiday and pension contributions.
About You
We're looking for someone enthusiastic and experienced who's passionate about electrical installations and supporting others to learn. If you've got industry qualifications - like an NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds - and hands-on experience in installation, maintenance, or testing, you could be a great fit for you.
A teaching or assessor qualification (like a PGCE or Cert Ed) would be a bonus,
but it's not essential.
What matters most is your practical knowledge and your ability to inspire others. If you're not yet qualified to teach, we'll support you to gain the right training on the job.
You'll need strong communication skills, the ability to plan engaging sessions, and a commitment to creating a positive, inclusive environment where every student can thrive. You should also be keen to stay up to date with the latest industry trends and bring that real-world insight into your teaching.
