We're looking for an experienced and proactive Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join our team at Clayton Hall. You'll be responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance, repair, and improvement of all equipment within our Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) -- ensuring smooth plant operations and minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out safe and effective maintenance on MRF equipment, including conveyors, balers, shredders, and optical sorters.
Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and perform electrical and mechanical fault finding to keep production running.
Undertake site electrical repairs or modifications as required.
Support with cleaning and waste removal to maintain a safe and tidy work environment.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and parts usage logs.
Collaborate with supervisors and management to ensure safe and efficient plant operations.
Report any safety or environmental concerns, near misses, or unsafe practices immediately.
Suggest and support improvements to equipment or working methods.
Assist team members when required and report any blockages or material build-ups on conveyors.
Perform both planned and reactive maintenance with a 70/30 electrical-to-mechanical bias.
Work with electrical systems, including motors (AC/DC), drives, relays, contactors, sensors, and pressure switches.
Skills & Experience
Previous experience in maintenance or engineering, ideally within recycling, manufacturing, or heavy industry.
Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
Good understanding of PLC-controlled systems and the ability to read electrical schematics.
Welding and fabrication experience (advantageous).
Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
Good communication skills and commitment to health and safety.
Qualifications
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (essential).
18th Edition Wiring Regulations (advantageous).
Health & Safety training (advantageous).
