Smarter Utility is a Renewables & electric vehicle (EV) charger, full-service supply and installation company based Hamilton.

We're looking for a Qualified Supervisor to join our team in what would be a hybrid role.

General job description



Audit installations of both in-house staff and sub-contractors. Check and sign off Electrical Installation Certificates and Minor Works Certificates in line with BS7671 and NICEIC requirements. Work alongside our operations manager to discuss improvements in both workmanship and safe working practices and then implement new procedures as and when appropriate. General management of a small team of electricians. Conduct site surveys to establish cable routes and installation methods for new circuits in domestic and commercial settings. Review survey images from domestic customers and ascertain installation methods in line with our standard working practices. Produce RAMS in line with CDM regulations. Create job specifications and material order sheets for installations. Manage commercial installations and see them through to completion. Producing schedule of works and liaising with both our in-house teams and sub-contractors to ensure projects are delivered efficiently. Provide technical support to our installations and customer support teams within the office. Provide technical support to our electricians in the field. Be willing to travel to job sites to assist where necessary.

Skills and Requirements



Qualifications required:


18th Edition
NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent
C&G Level 2 & 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent
C&G 2391 Inspection and Testing or equivalent
SMSTS or SSSTS
EV Charging 2919 (preferrable but not essential)

Solar qualifications advantageous but not a deal breaker

The ideal candidate would:


Be able to communicate well with customers and build a good rapport.
Have strong attention to detail.
Be able to work individually or as part of a team.
Have previous renewables and EV installation and management experience.
Be able to communicate effectively with management, the office-based support team, and our field-based team.
Have a comprehensive understanding of electrical installations, testing & inspections.
Have strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise well when managing multiple projects at a time.
Ability to deal with complex tasks under pressure.
Enthusiastic & self-motivated.
Be able to approach problems with a methodical and logical approach.
Have a comprehensive understanding of electrical installations, testing & inspection.
Have experience in managing electricians and subcontractors.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 38,000.00-45,000.00 per year
