Electrical Qualified Supervisor

Torquay, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

We have a vacancy for a qualified electrical qualified supervisor in South Devon to join our rapidly expanding team.

About Us:

We have over 30 years industry experience. Our work is mainly from recommendations.

We undertake a wide range of electrical work including Domestic, New Build Housing, Commercial, Industrial, Renewables and Data Comms.

Our work is carried out by qualified electricians with years of experience in the industry. Our electricians are friendly and professional, with every job completed to the British Standard BS7671 Regulations.

Our company's strength lies in a consultancy style approach where our design and installation are tailored to our clients' requirements.

We understand that our employees are our greatest asset, and we reward them accordingly.

Requirements:

The QS ensures that any works performed by electricians under their supervision are safe, compliant, and executed according to relevant regulations and standards.

Ensure all electrical work meets the current edition of the wiring regulations (typically BS 7671, as adopted by the IET) and any requirements set by NICEIC.

Verify that inspection and testing (e.g. after installation or modification) are properly conducted; ensure results are accurately recorded on the appropriate certificates or reports.

Sign off on and issue the required certifications or inspection reports for completed works.

Maintain and safeguard all certification paperwork -- including unused forms -- to prevent loss, theft or misuse.

Be prepared to liaise with the accrediting body (NICEIC) for audits or annual assessments to maintain company membership/accreditation.

Oversee and supervise electricians (in-house staff and/or sub-contractors) to ensure they are competent, properly trained, and work under appropriate supervision.

Perform regular site-based inspections (or audits) to assess quality and compliance of electrical installations -- both during works in progress and after completion.

Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and, where relevant, training to electricians and apprentices.

Act as the company's point of contact with NICEIC (or equivalent accreditation bodies) -- sometimes called the "Qualifying Supervisor" under scheme rules.

Ensure that the business is organised so that all electrical work is properly assigned (i.e. work allocation and competence matrix) and carried out by suitably qualified personnel.

Support the internal process for issuing Certificates of Compliance or Reports -- potentially using company software -- and ensure records are maintained and accessible for inspection.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant building regulations, statutory obligations, health & safety requirements, and industry standards (especially BS 7671).

Ensure the business remains compliant with statutory and regulatory requirements related to electrical work.

Visiting sites to inspect ongoing works or completed installations, checking compliance and workmanship.

Verifying test and inspection results submitted by electricians (or subcontractors), then completing and issuing certificates/reporting.

Supervising a small team of electricians -- approving their work, offering technical guidance, mentoring apprentices.

Maintaining compliance records and liaising with management, clients, or accreditation body.
