Job Description

Purpose:

In the absence of the supervisor, acts on the supervisor's behalf. Assemble and test the electronic/electrical components, subassemblies and assemblies. Assist the electronics shop supervisor with the assignment of jobs to the electrical technician.

Key Responsibilities: (Key Tasks)



The successful candidate will be responsible for prioritising and delegating work to a team of electrical technicians under the guidance of the electronics lab supervisor. Act on behalf of the supervisor, in their absence. Assist the senior electrical technicians in ensuring department quality standards are maintained by all technicians. Play a pro-active role in ensuring workload is constantly flowing through the department. Ensure Health & Safety procedures and guidelines are adhered to by all staff at all times. Ensure completed work in all department labs is forwarded onto relevant department and all paperwork checked/processed. Responsible for monitoring department efficiency with a 100% target. Assist supervisor in ensuring major project schedule into integration dates and tooling/spares completion dates are met.

Education / Qualifications (essential):



Minimum of ONC in Electronic & Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)

Education / Qualifications (desirable):



IEEE 16th Edition accreditation preferred

Technical Competencies (essential):



Low voltage AC/DC panel wiring/looming High voltage installations Control/Data systems Fibre Optic handling/termination (desirable) Must have the correct attributes to drive workload through the department and ensure all deadlines are met. Proficient in using range of PC software (MSWord/Excel/MS Outlook/MRP System/Stock Management Systems).

Key Skills (essential):



Schedule/Quality/Safety awareness. Must have good communication skills and the ability to work well with others. Must be able to read and interpret drawings and sketches. Good organisational and communication skills required. Must be hard working. Ability to work under pressure and manage specific details. Proficient in using range of PC software (MSWord/Excel/MS Outlook/MRP System/Stock Management Systems). Must have the correct attributes to drive workload through the department and ensure all deadlines are met. Familiar with all subassemblies and basic systems. Must be confident in liaising with other departments and management team.

Experience (essential):



Experience with production processes and equipment. A good understanding of electrical/electronic systems essential.

QHSE Competencies:



Maintain behaviour in compliance with FET requirements. Maintain responsibility and accountability through personal commitment and behaviour. Report any unsafe or environmentally unsound acts and conditions to their immediate supervisor such that remedial action can be taken to manage the risk.
