Job Description




You will work as part of the Tees Dock maintenance team to ensure all machinery and equipment performs in a safe and effective manner through the diligent execution of maintenance inspections and remedial work derived from such inspections or as operational requirements.

The main responsibilities will be:

  • Electrical isolations (as detailed in the isolation procedure) when authorised
  • Attending Tool box talks delivered by Terminal Management
  • Carrying out risk assessments and implementing method statements where required and ensuring risk assessments and method statements are suitable and used for tasks being undertaken
  • Ensuring that they are signed on to a Permit to Work or Clearance to Work before beginning any task that requires one to be issued
  • Planning, risk assessing and executing workload as necessary
  • Make informed decisions associated with hazard identification and risk management to ensure safe working
  • Prioritise tasks after discussion with supervisor to ensure maintenance objectives are achieved
  • Carry out remedial or preventative work according to priorities agreed with colleagues and supervision
  • Provide effective feedback to team members and supervision in order to maximise the effectiveness of engineering input
  • Offer suggestions for improvements, wherever necessary in terms of equipment safety, performance, tooling, design and working practices
  • Be an effective team member with the ability to work flexibly to meet the demands of the team. To use knowledge and experience to the benefit of the group and to be approachable and forthcoming with ideas
  • Demonstrate an interest in personal development and to participate effectively in training sessions as and when required
About you
You bring the following qualifications:
  • Level 2 Skills for Life which incorporates: Numeracy, Literacy and ITQ or evidence of GCSE equivalent/higher
  • Time Served apprenticeship in an electrical discipline.
  • Hold an IET Wiring Regulations 18th Edition certificate.
  • HNC in electrical engineering desirable
  • Risk Assessment
  • IOSH Working Safely
  • Effective Communication Skills
  • We are looking for the following experience and knowledge:
  • Time-served tradesman with experience in the maintenance of heavy equipment ideally gained in an processing plant, dock operation or a similar heavy industrial environment
  • Understanding of process and distribution engineering
  • Familiarity with condition monitoring techniques would be advantageous
