Electrician / Solar PV Electrician Ideal for electricians looking to move off the tools (without losing the technical side)
Salary:
38,000 - 48,000 per year
, depending on experience Quarterly team performance bonus (not commission-based) Electric company car provided as the role progresses
Location:
Wilmslow (office-based role, off the tools, with hybrid working after probation)
Hours:
Full-time, Monday-Friday (one evening per week to support customer availability, balanced with a later start)
The Role
This role is designed for an electrician who understands or wants to properly learn, how solar and battery systems are installed, and who would enjoy applying that knowledge in a design-led, customer-facing role off the tools.
Initially, the focus of the role is system design and customer conversations. You'll be the technical voice customers speak to when considering solar PV and battery storage, spending most of your time designing systems, running technical consultations, pricing systems, and explaining options, constraints, and trade-offs clearly.
As you become more confident and seamless in those conversations, the role will evolve into a hybrid of design work and customer site visits. These visits form part of the pre-sale process, measuring up, validating designs, answering technical questions in person, and helping customers feel confident choosing us as a business. This role is entirely pre-sale and does not include installation work or post-sale customer handovers.
A company car will be provided as the role develops and site visits become a regular part of your work. You won't be expected to lead site visits immediately; these will be introduced progressively, with support, once you're fully confident in the design process and customer conversations.
You'll work closely with Ian (Co-Founder) and Claire (Customer Experience), taking projects from initial enquiry through to signed contract before handing over to the install team.
This is a consultancy-led sales role. It's about using your real-world electrical experience and practical judgement to design compliant systems, explain products clearly, and give customers genuine confidence in their decision to proceed with solar. No hard selling.
Because the role is highly customer-facing, it suits someone comfortable leading conversations and explaining technical ideas. You'll be on calls and, over time, attending site visits most weeks, so being confident in communicating with customers is essential. If you prefer working quietly in the background with minimal customer interaction, this role is unlikely to be the right fit.
About Apex Doma
Apex Doma is an award-winning, family-run renewable energy company specialising in high-quality solar PV, battery systems, and EV charging.
Around 80% of our work is premium domestic installations, with the remaining 20% small-scale commercial projects (typically up to 50 kW). We focus on well-designed systems rather than volume installs and are known for taking a technical, engineering-led approach to every project.
We are not a sales-led business. Customers come to us because they want advice from qualified electricians and engineers, not commission-driven salespeople or one-size-fits-all solutions.
Through our YouTube channel (@apexdoma) and transparent approach, we attract homeowners who value proper technical guidance and want to understand why a system is designed a certain way.
We're now looking for a solar PV electrician, or an electrician keen to develop in solar, who's ready to step off the tools into a stable, office-based, pre-sale role, with technical and site involvement increasing over time.
Key Responsibilities
After training, act as the sole point of contact for customers throughout the pre-sale process, taking enquiries from initial lead through to signed contract
Run Zoom and phone consultations with homeowners, building trust and confidence through clear, technically sound advice
Record Loom-style videos to explain system designs, layout decisions, and recommendations in a clear and accessible way
Review electricity usage data, property layouts, and customer goals to inform bespoke system designs
Design solar PV and battery systems using tools such as EasyPV and OpenSolar
Apply practical site experience to system layouts, inverter selection, export limits, and compliance considerations
Specify appropriate equipment, including:
PV panels and mounting systems (in-roof, on-roof, and ground-mount)
Inverters and battery systems such as Tesla Powerwall, SigEnergy, and GivEnergy
Review and refine designs following site surveys or additional technical information
Longer term, attend customer site visits during the pre-sale stage to support surveys, measurements, and technical discussions
Explain system designs and electrical decisions clearly and honestly, helping customers understand the reasoning behind each recommendation
Maintain accurate customer notes, actions, and follow-ups using HubSpot CRM and Payaca
Work closely with the operations and installation teams to ensure designs are practical, compliant, and ready for delivery
Contribute to the ongoing improvement of internal standards, drawings, design templates, and technical processes
