This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly expanding high technology company that designs and manufactures revolutionary magnetic transmission systems and advanced electric motors and generators. Magnomatics is a globally recognised technology leader servicing customers across a broad spectrum of industries including Aerospace, Marine, Renewables and Transport, whose technology is seen as a key enabler for many developing markets segments.

Magnomatics are seeking to recruit talented and enthusiastic candidates to join its multidisciplinary and expanding engineering team, who have an interest in developing products and advancing ongoing research and development of magnetically geared technologies. The ideal candidate will be a creative thinker, highly self-motivated and self-reliant with enthusiasm for motors and drives and able to work effectively as part of a small team.

Duties

Interpretation of customer specification to determine product requirements

Working with engineers to determine design concepts and electrical machine topologies

Building electromagnetic FEA 2D/3D models and setting up analysis routines

Maintaining parametric model code and material libraries

Completing concept and detailed design of electrical machines - including analytical and FEA analysis.

Writing engineering reports on design work undertaken and disseminating work with wider engineering team.

Working with the production team to develop processes for manufacture and test of final designs

Testing of motor/generator prototypes, which includes commissioning with bespoke test rigs, validation tests and post-processing

Qualifications

Degree, Masters or PhD in Electrical Engineering or relevant Engineering discipline specifically to electrical machines/motor design and electromagnetic design and modelling

Knowledge of motor architectures, ideally radial flux permanent magnet machines

Experience in 2D and 3D Finite Element Analysis (FEA) in relation to electromagnetic design of electrical machines - motors / generators

Experience of one or more of the following software tools or scripting languages:

- Opera 2D/3D FEA

- Solidworks, Solidworks Simulation

- Ansys (APDL or Workbench)

- Matlab, Simulink, Labview

- Python, C/C++

Practical hands-on approach to engineering including testing, validation and verification of prototypes

Experience of technical report writing

Organised work ethic and good communicator
